 During Notification of Claim, information relating to Policy, Insured, Date of loss, Cause of loss, Property affected, estimated quantum of loss, Police & Fire Brigade notification shall be collected.

Process steps for a claim

 Claim shall be intimated to DHFL GI Call Centre, immediately. However, it shall not be later than 15 days of occurrence.

It shall be the duty of the insurer to not disturb the affected items before survey is completed. Survey shall be conducted by surveyor appointed by the company; shifting is permissible for loss minimization.

The surveyor will visit the site of damage within 1 working day of claim being intimated to the company to have first-hand view about damages.

The surveyor will assess the loss, collect the available documents and submit an interim report to the insurance company.

 Later on, a final survey report will be submitted to the insurance company by the surveyor based on policy terms and conditions to substantiate the claim, once damages are reinstated and bills with remaining relevant documents are submitted by the insured.

 

 The insurance company will review these documents and will process the claim within 7 days. The company will inform the amount of claim, before disbursing the claim amount.

Health Insurance

How can a customer intimate DHFL Health Claim?

An insured must notify his designated TPA either at the call centre or in writing, in the event of planned or emergency hospitalization.Contact details are available on the Health Card and Policy Schedule.

In case on non-cashless facility, claim shall be submitted company’s office or the Third Party Administrator’s office not later than 15 days from the date of discharge from the hospital.

Claim form can be obtained from any of company’soffices or Third Party Administrator’s offices. The person making a claim shall submit the Claim Form along with the documents for reimbursement of the claim to company’soffices or Third Party Administrator’s offices. Address of designated Third Party Administrator are being shared in Health Card / Policy Schedule.

The person shall receive an update on status of the claim through SMS and Emails on the registered contact. Hence, it is important that contact details are updated with the company at all times.

In case of cashless claims, the company shall issue the authorization letter to the hospital through fax or Email.

The company shall scrutinize the claim and accompanying documents. Any deficiency of documents shall be intimated to the claimant and the network Hospital, as the case may be and shall be followed by subsequent reminders.

The company shall settle a Claim including its rejection within 30 days of submission of the last “necessary” document(s) / information that is required for the settlement of the claim.

Where a rejection is communicated by the company, the claimant may if so desired within 15 days represent the claim for reconsideration of the decision.

How to Make a two wheeler Insurance Claim

Claim Should be intimated to the Insurance company immediately with the policy particulars.

No repair before survey of the vehicle

With this, we cover the expenses you make while repairing or replacing your car keys and / or locks and / or lock set, including the locksmith’s charges. Things to consider when you opt for this add on:

The coverage will be available only for a maximum of two claims during your policy period.

A claim resulting from burglary or theft should be supported by a First Information Report (FIR) with the police.

Plan Benefits

  • You will receive 100% of sum insured in case of accidental death and 200% of sum insured if death occurs while travelling as a fare paying passenger on a common carrier.

    You will receive a lump sum payment as per policy terms in the event of fracture of bones due to an accident.

    On suffering from burns due to accident you will receive 10-100% of sum insured, depending on the degree of burns.

    You will receive 25% of the sum insured as lump sum in the event of suffering from a Coma due to accident.

    We want your child’s education go on unaffected even in your absence or in case permanent disability. So, you will receive a one-time payment equal to 10% of sum insured per surviving dependent child for a maximum of 2 children subject to a limit of Rs.10 lakhs per policy.

    You will receive a lump sum amount (maximum up to Rs.10,000 based on sum insured selected by you) for transportation expenses on emergency ambulance services.

    You will receive a one-time payment of Rs.5000 for sum insured up to 50 lakhs and Rs.10,000 for sum insured above Rs 50 lakhs towards funeral or cremation expenses.

    We understand the financial turmoil your family may encounter in case of accidental death of parents, so you will receive an amount equal to the sum insured towards dependent child as ‘orphan benefit’.

The premium will depend on the plan, daily cash benefit, policy tenure along with your age, optional cover and maximum coverage limit opted.

Plan Benefits

We will pay a Daily Cash Benefit for each continuous and completed period of 24 hours of Hospitalization due to injury.

We will pay 2 times the Daily Cash Benefit for each continuous and completed period of 24 hours of Hospitalization for illness.

For hospitalization in an Intensive Care Unit for treatment of illness and injury we will pay 3 times the Daily Cash Benefit. Coverage is limited to a maximum of 15 days per Insured Person per Policy Year.

You might need to get hospitalized in a Hospital room Or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) outside India for medical assistance due to illness or injury. Don’t worry; we will pay 3 times the Daily Cash Benefit for medically necessary treatment.

There can be a situation when you may need a long hospital stay. We understand your problems. We will pay a lump sum equal to 5 times the Daily Cash Benefit for hospitalization of at least 10 consecutive days

While you are hospitalized you may need a family member to take care of you. We ensure that you get continuous care with additional pay of 50% of your Daily Hospital Cash Benefit.

Persons between 18 to 65 years can opt for Critical Illness cover as add-on benefit. We will give a lump sum amount equal to Sum Insured in case of first diagnosis of the covered critical illness. Once claim is paid the Critical Illness benefit will cease to exist for that person.

We know your need to try something before you trust it. A period of 15 days from the receipt of the policy document is available to review the terms and conditions of this policy. You can choose to cancel the policy by stating the reason for cancellation and we shall refund the premium after retaining 50% of costs for any medical tests (if conducted). Cancellation will be allowed only if there are no claims reported.

What Policy Covers?

Loss or damage to the insured vehicle, due to the following:

Fire, explosion and self-ignition.

Flood, inundation, typhoon, hurricane, storm, tempest, cyclone, hailstorm, frost, lightning, earthquake, landslide, rock-slide (Act of God perils).

Burglary, theft, riot, strike, malicious or terrorist activities, accidental external damage, damage in transit by road, rail, inland waterway, lift, elevator or air.

Legal liability to any third party for injury/death (unlimited) or property damage (up to Rs 750,000), arising out of use of the insured vehicle at a public place. Personal Accident Cover of Rs. 200,000 for individual owner-driver of the insured vehicle, while travelling in, mounting into or dismounting from the car. Compensation is payable for death and various types of permanent disabilities.

Other Features

There are two basic types of Policy available. The Liability Only Policy is compulsory as per Motor Vehicles Act and covers Items 2 and 3 listed above of ‘What the Policy covers’. The Package Policy is a comprehensive cover, including all the listed items of ‘What the Policy covers’.

On change of ownership, application has to be made by the transferee within 14 days of such change, with required documents and payment of fees/additional premium (if required), for effecting transfer of insurance.

For vehicle damage claims, replacement parts are subject to depreciation, the percentage of which depends on vehicle age and category of parts. Such claims are also subject to a Compulsory Excess/Deductible, which depends on the c.c. of the vehicle.

Sum Insured Premium

All vehicles are insured for a fixed value known as Insured’s Declared Value (IDV). This is computed on the basis of the manufacturer’s listed selling price, inclusive of accessories (where applicable), after deducting appropriate depreciation based on the vehicle age.

There are two basic components of premium under the Policy. Liability premium is a fixed amount depending on vehicle c.c. while Own Damage premium rate (%) depends on vehicle c.c., age, model, operation zone etc. which is applied on the IDV. Extra premium is payable for the Extension covers, if opted for.

Premium discounts are available in the following situations:

Automobile Association membership.

Anti-theft device installation.

Higher Voluntary Excess opted for.

No Claim Bonus (NCB).

The discount for NCB is allowed at the time of renewal each year. It is expressed as a percentage of the Own Damage premium and increases from 20% to 50%, depending on the number of years of claim-free experience. It follows the fortune of the Insured and not the vehicle, which means that it will also be applicable on a substituted private car. It can be transferred from a different Insurer on renewal, subject to production of the required supporting documents. For NCB entitlement, renewal has to be effected within the stipulated expiry date, or maximum of 90 days thereafter. NCB will be lost on renewal, if any vehicle damage claim is lodged under the expiring Policy.

Cancellation of Policy

The Company may cancel the policy by sending seven days notice by recorded delivery to the insured at insured’s last known address and in such event will return to the insured the premium paid less the pro rata portion thereof for the period the Policy has been in force or the policy may be cancelled at any time by the insured on seven day’s notice by recorded delivery and provided no claim has arisen during the currency of the policy, the insured shall be entitled to a return of premium less premium at the Company’s Short Period rates for the period the Policy has been in force.

Where the ownership of the vehicle is transferred, the policy cannot be cancelled unless evidence that the vehicle is insured elsewhere is produced.

What Policy covers?

Loss or damage to your vehicle:

Any loss or damage caused to the vehicle due to the following natural and man-made calamities. Natural Calamities – Fire, explosion, self-ignition or lightning, earthquake, flood, typhoon, hurricane, storm, tempest, inundation, cyclone, hailstorm, frost, landslide, rockslide. Manmade Calamities –Burglary, theft, riot, strike, malicious act, accident by external means, any damage in transit by road, rail, inland waterway, lift, elevator or air.

Personal accident cover: The motor insurance provides compulsory personal accident cover of Rs. 1 lakh for individual owner driver of the vehicle insured while traveling in, mounting or dismounting from the vehicle. You can also opt for a personal accident cover for pillion rider.

Third party legal liability: Protects against legal liability arising due to accidental damages, any permanent injury/ death of a person and/or any damage caused to the property.

What Policy does not cover?

The company shall not liable in respect of:

any accident, loss, damage and or liability caused, sustained or incurred outside the Geographical Area;

claim arising out of any contractual liability;

any accident, loss, damage and/or liability can be sustained or incurred whilst the Motor Vehicle is

Being used otherwise than in accordance with the Limitations as to use or

Any liability of whatsoever nature. directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to by or arising from ionising, radiation or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or from, any nuclear waste from the combustion of nuclear fuel. For the purposes of this exception combustion shall include any self-sustaining process of nuclear fission;

Any accident, loss or damage or liability directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to by or arising from nuclear weapons material.

Any accident loss or damage and or liability directly or indirectly or proximately or remotely occasioned by contributed by or traceable to arising out of or in connection with War, Invasion, the act of foreign enemies, hostilities, or War like operations (whether before or after declaration of war) Civil War, Mutiny, Rebellion, Military, or usurped power or by any direct or indirect consequences of the any of the said occurrences and in the event of any claim hereunder the insured shall prove that the accident loss damage and or liability arose independently of and was in no way connected with or occasioned by or contributed to by or traceable to any of the said occurrences or any consequences thereof and in default of such proof the company shall not be liable to make any payment in respect of such a claim

IFFCO TOKIO’s 24x7 On Road Assistance

This is an additional benefit available with Iffco Tokio’s Private Car Comprehensive Policy Purchased Online only, for various emergency assistance services and benefits in the event of immobilization of your vehicle during travel or at home/work, which will provide complete peace of mind to you in various exigencies. The insured perils are the same as under the Motor Package Policy, excluding the Act of God perils and riot, strike, malicious and terrorist activities, but including some additional perils, like internal breakdown, battery discharge, Tyre puncture, loss of keys etc.

 

Coverage

Towing: If your vehicle is immobilized following an accident IFFCO-Tokio shall arrange for recovery of the vehicle and ensure Safe towing to the nearest authorized dealer or workshop. This coverage would be up to 100 KM radius from nearest IFFCO-Tokio branch city centre.

Services of Assistance at Home or Roadside: In the event of immobilisation of vehicle due to Pilot errors or electrical break down, when the vehicle is either at customers office, home or at the roadside, and where in the opinion of IFFCO Tokio the vehicle can be repaired at the place where the vehicle is lying, then we shall proceed with and repair the covered vehicle by arranging to send an automobile technician at the site of incident and repair the covered vehicle.
These services shall include:

Flat Battery (Jump Start)

Spare Key pick-up & Delivery (in case of locked keys)

Flat Tyre Services

Other minor mechanical and electrical repairs at roadside

Essential Fuel Delivery: In case of immobilisation of the covered vehicle of customer due to having run out of fuel IFFCO Tokio shall deliver upto 5 lts (Five Liters). However, no more that twice during the policy coverage period.

Services of Taxi: In the event of immobilisation of covered vehicle where IFFCO Tokio is arranging for towing of the covered vehicle, IFFCO Tokio shall, basing on the details of the case and upon request of the customer, provide the services of taxi for all person(s) travelling on the covered vehicle transportation upto 50 (fifty) kms from the location of the immobilisation of the covered vehicle subject to:

Taxi shall be provided only to one destination

Only people travelling in the vehicle up to the maximum passengers limit as defined as per the registration copy of the vehicle shall be provided the benefit

Any travel beyond 50 kms shall not be covered and any arrangement for continuation of travel beyond 50 kms shall be between the customer and the service provider as the case may be

The taxi benefit shall be arranged by IFFCO-TOKIO and shall be provided through IFFCO-TOKIO network and selected service providers, but shall be the sole responsibility of IFFCO-TOKIO

In the unlikely event where IFFCO-TOKIO is unable to arrange for this service through its network and tie-ups, IFFCO- TOKIO may request the customer to arrange for a taxi on his own and submit the bill for a pre-communicated amount re- imbursement which shall be on par or in line with market taxi rates

Services of Hotel Coordination: In the event of immobilisation of the covered vehicle if the customer wants to avail Hotel coordination benefit, IFFCO Tokio shall provide the customer with a network hotel details and the Insured can stay there at his own expense.

Services of Medical Co-ordination: In case of immobilisation of vehicle and customer is in need of Medical co-ordination, IFFCO TOKIO will co-ordinate for Medical assistance or information and provide information he may require as to Medical assistance. Any costs incurred treatment or consultation with the doctor will entirely be borne by the Insured

Urgent Message Relay: Due to unforeseen circumstances the Insure may be unable to connect to his family for help. In such cases, where the Insured’s car is immobilised, IFFCO Tokio on customers request will arrange a conference call for him on the number shared by him/her on the phone carried by our technician.

 

Exclusion

Please note that this is an additional benefit being provided to on-line customers who buy comprehensive car policy and all the terms and conditions will be solely and shall be at complete discretion of IFFCO TOKIO General Insurance Co. Ltd.

 

Coverage

There are 12 benefits available, from which the Insured can choose the covers required by him. The list of benefits is furnished below:

Waiver of the amount deducted towards depreciation on parts, for partial loss claims of the insured vehicle under the Motor Package Policy.

For total loss claims of the insured vehicle, difference amount between the current ex-showroom price and IDV of the vehicle as mentioned in the Motor Package Policy will be paid.

The daily rental/travel cost of the Insured will be paid, for the period required to effect vehicle claim settlement (for both partial and total losses), subject to maximum time periods specified for such payment.

Cover for Insured’s personal effects and belongings in the vehicle which get damaged following an insured peril operation, or get stolen from a locked vehicle, or get stolen along with the insured vehicle.

Reimbursement of medical expenses incurred by vehicle occupants (including driver, but excluding paid passengers), who get injured as a result of insured peril operation on the vehicle, or while resisting an act of theft/burgalry on the vehicle.

Personal accident cover, which is more extensive than that available under the basic Motor Policy for all occupants (including driver, but excluding paid passengers). Coverage is granted for all permanent and temporary disabilities, as well as various additional benefits.

Protection of NCB benefit, wherein Insured’s renewal NCB eligibility is unaffected by all standalone glass claims and is earned, retained or reduced (as per specified chart) for all other claims, depending on existing NCB entitlement and number of claims under the expiring Policy.

Increased third party property damage liability cover beyond Rs. 750,000 limit, as is available under the basic Motor Policy.

Reimbursement of cost incurred for removal of debris or wreckage, following damage to the vehicle due to an insured peril operation.

Cost of towing, removal and storage of the vehicle if it is not repairable at spot, in the above case.

Cost of hotel accommodation for the vehicle passengers up to 3 nights (subject to maximum limits), if vehicle is damaged due to operation of an insured peril, which requires repairing time above 12 hours.

Cost of transportation and redelivery of the vehicle (subject to distance limits), if repairs take more than 72 hours and Insured/Driver has left the incident place.

Exclusion

The general exclusions for this coverage are exactly the same as for the Motor Package Policy. There are specific exclusions applicable for each of the separate benefit Sections of this coverage.

 

Features

Out of the list of benefits given above, Insured can choose as per his requrement. A minimum of 3 Sections have to be chosen, but there is no compulsory Section specified.

For most of the listed benefits, there are maximum monetary limits, which are either specified or have to be opted for by the Insured.

The last three benefits of the coverage items listed above are available for private cars, only at those centres where Iffco Tokio’s On Road Protector Coverage is not available.

The premium computation is done separately for each Section and the minimum premium for this coverage is Rs. 1,500 plus S.T. for private cars.
