Kerala (KL) RTO

Kerala’s RTO offices ensure that the regulations that are in effect as a result of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 are followed in the state. Apart from the license, registration, and permit services, Kerala RTOs are undertaking the development of the state’s road networks and improvement of motor vehicles management techniques. Penalties

Penalties are levied for the following offenses. Few general offenses are as follows:

  • Disobedience of orders, obstruction, and refusal of information
  • Allowing unauthorized individuals to drive vehicles
  • License-related offences
  • The disqualified person holding conductors license or acting as a conductor
  • Driving at excessive speed
  • Allowing any person to drive the vehicle at excessive speed
  • Driving dangerously
  • Driving when mentally or physically unfit to drive
  • Racing and trials of speed
  • Violating the road safety standards and control of noise and pollution

Few driver-related offenses are as follows:

  • Driving a vehicle without a valid license
  • Driving a transport vehicle without authorization
  • Disqualified person driving /applying and obtaining a driver license
  • Driving a vehicle without a valid registration certificate
  • Driving a vehicle without valid CF
  • Driving a vehicle without insurance against third party risk
  • Using the vehicle in unsafe conditions and violating the standards of road safety
  • Driving a vehicle recklessly or dangerously

Few owner-related offenses are as follows:

  • Allowing the use of a vehicle without valid registration
  • Allowing the use of transport vehicles without a valid CF
  • Allowing use of transport vehicles without valid a third-party insurance
  • Allowing an unauthorized person to drive the vehicle(without a license, without a badge, or being underage)
  • Allowing an unlicensed or an unauthorized person to act as a conductor of a stage carriage
  • Allowing the use of vehicles to violate the standards of road safety noise and air pollution
  • Alteration of the vehicle without sanction
  • Leaving the vehicle in a dangerous position or causing inconvenience to others (only when the owner is in charge at the time)
  • Failure to fit the taxi meter, get it sealed, or running with a defective meter

A few conductor-related offenses are as follows:

  • Functioning as a conductor without a license
  • Disqualified person acting as a conductor
  • Giving false information or withholding information
  • Allowing passengers to be in the vehicle when the fuel tank is replenished
  • Not conduct duties and function of the conductor (dereliction of duty on the part of the conductor)
  • Disobeying lawful direction obstructing discharge of the function
  • Failure to produce license and badge on demand
  • Failure to wear the prescribed uniform
  • Failure to write trip sheet
  • Failure to keep first aid box

Environmental Due Diligence

Kerala has set up Pollution Under Control or PUC centres across the state. A PUC certificate is issued for vehicles to their owners if the pollution emitted is within the norms set by the law of the state and country.

How To Purchase Motor Insurance In Kerala?

The Kerala RTO overlooks the validity of the motor insurance as outlined in the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. All vehicles that ply on Kerala’s roads must be insured by at least a third-party liability cover. This cover can be purchased directly from insurance companies.
